suzlee ibrahim's Profile

Suzlee Ibrahim was born in Kuala Terengganu (1967), has shown a remarkable achievement in his 26 years career as a painter. He has had 23 solo exhibitions and exhibited in more than 20 countries all over the world. Among the countries are the United Kingdom, USA, Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, Canada, China, Japan, Argentina, Greece, Poland, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Nepal and Bangladesh.

In art education, Suzlee started as a part time lecturer at the School of Art & Design, Institut Teknologi MARA in 1993 (later known as the Faculty of Art and Design, Universiti Teknologi MARA). Suzlee is now lecturing at the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, ASWARA (Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan). Other universities and organizations also sought Suzlee’s expertise and advice in fine arts as facilitator in art workshops, jury and curator. Among the professional bodies are such as Pusat Kebudayaan UKM and Pusat Perkembangan Professional INTAN (Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur).

Suzlee inspires many young artists and art students. He sets example as a successful academician and artist in Malaysian art scene. Upon recognition for his participation in Malaysia art scene, Suzlee was awarded In Recognition of Outstanding Creative Excellence - Emaar International Art Symposium Dubai/ UAE (2005), Japan-Malaysia Art Friendship Ambassador - Ministry of Culture Arts & Heritage Malaysia & World Arts and Culture Exchange Malaysia/Japan (2007), Tokoh Seni: Anugerah Citra Kencana by the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2011) and Excellent Masters Award by Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam ( 2013).

Suzlee’s works are collected by corporate organizations and private collectors in Malaysia and outside the country such as Remise Academy (Brande, Denmark), Emaar Properties (Dubai, UAE), Monastir Museum of Modern Art (Monastir, Tunisia), Bank Negara Malaysia, Maybank Investment Bank, Balai Seni Visual Negara, Putrajaya Holdings, Suruhanjaya Sekuriti Malaysia, Kementerian Luar Negeri, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Shah Alam Gallery, Soka Gakkai Malaysia, NST, and Lautan Biru (2005) his last piece of Movement Series is with DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-pertuan Agong Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (The 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong /2006-2011).
Some of his works have made through auctions such as Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers (International paintings, antiques and modern art) Denmark, Sotheby’s Auction / Elephant Parade Singapore, Malaysia & Southeast Asian Art / Henry Butcher Art Auction and Masterpiece Fine Art Auction.
